Greek men, women and children massacred in Western Anatolia. Photograph by Evangelos Pappas.
Note: Evangelos Pappas was a Greek photographer who spent time in Turkey as a military photographer during the period just prior to the collapse of the Ottoman Empire. In western Asia Minor he systematically documented atrocities perpetrated against Ottoman Greeks by Turks. To date, photography successfully attributed to Pappas derives from the early 1920s and spans both Greece and Turkey.
